SANTA MONICA, Calif., May 17, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Saatchi Art’s The Other Art Fair (“The Fair”), a leading international fair championing independent emerging artists, announces its features and programming for its second edition in Chicago. The Other Art Fair will run from May 16-19, 2019 at Mana Contemporary showcasing over 120 emerging international and local artists. The programming for this edition includes Chicago-local Sandra Antongiorgi, singer, songwriter, and painter as the official Guest Artist. Joining as the official non-profit partner is Little Black Pearl, an organization that provides healing through art and serves youth and families in the south side neighborhoods of Chicago. The Fair will also introduce “Greener Future,” its 2019 global initiative promoting a multifaceted approach to eco-sustainability in the arts.

“We are honored to work with such amazing Chicago-local artists and activists who are inspiring the next generation to express themselves through art,” said Founder of The Other Art Fair, Ryan Stanier. “There is no limit to the talent and creativity of the city and we’re excited to see that shine through once again in Pilsen.”

Guest Artist Sandra Antongiorgi is a Chicago-based singer, songwriter, and painter originally from Puerto Rico. Known primarily for her gifted use of paint, and formation of concept, Antongiorgi has contributed to scores of murals that dot the Chicago cityscape. She has been applauded for her portraiture in ‘Weaving Cultures’ a collaborative mural at 16th and Blue Island, an element attendees will see incorporated at The Fair. Her work has been showcased in several museums and exhibitions, including The National Museum of Mexican Art, Zhou B Gallery and most recently a solo exhibit at Advocate & Gochis Galleries in Los Angeles and the Center on Halsted Gallery.

The Other Art Fair’s official non-profit partner, Little Black Pearl, will feature ‘Treasures and Troves’ to celebrate their 25th anniversary. The exhibition will feature a collection of glass sculptures, acrylic paintings, photography and graphics created by their students to emulate the colors, fluidity and peacefulness of an aquatic environment.

As part of a global effort to reduce environmental footprint, The Other Art Fair will join its sister fairs in Greener Future, a new multi-faceted initiative which includes a collaboration with Broadcaster and Global Head of Collections at Soho House & Co. Kate Bryan. This worldwide initiative aims to inspire a much-needed discussion on climate change through eco-progressive and environmentally friendly projects that attendees can participate in onsite.

Below are some of the highlighted features:
