The U.K.’s Leading Emerging Artist Fair Expands Global Presence With
Launch of First U.S. Location and Additional Australian Fair
SANTA MONICA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
The Other Art Fair, the U.K.’s leading art fair for discovering emerging
artists, announces its 2017 exhibition calendar, including expansion
into Melbourne and its first ever U.S. show. The Other Art Fair enables
artists to show their works themselves, and gives buyers the chance to
meet artists in person and learn about their works and inspiration.
Unlike traditional art fairs that cater to galleries, The Other Art Fair
gives buyers unparalleled direct access to artists and pairs emerging
art with experiential programming, appealing to a new generation of art
collectors.
Since its launch in 2011, The Other Art Fair has seen annual onsite
attendance grow more than 300% and has featured over 1,000 artists. Now,
through its continued collaboration with Saatchi Art, the world’s
leading online gallery, The Other Art Fair seamlessly integrates its
onsite events with Saatchi Art’s global online presence, thereby
unifying the two fastest growing sectors of the art market.
For 2017, The Other Art Fair will increase its global presence with its
first U.S. fair taking place at the Brooklyn Expo Centre in New York in
June. Known as one of the world’s major art hubs, New York serves as the
perfect backdrop for The Other Art Fair’s U.S. debut.
“With the U.S. accounting for 43% of all art sales globally (source:
TEFAF 2016 Report Art Market) and New York’s reputation as one of the
world’s cultural capitals, the city is a natural fit for our first
location in the United States,” said Ryan Stanier, founder of The Other
Art Fair. “With thousands of talented artists residing in the New York
area, The Other Art Fair’s Brooklyn show will bring together the best
and brightest new talent in an engaging environment perfect for a new
generation of art collectors.”
Following the success of previous Sydney fairs, and high demand for
emerging works by Australian artists, The Other Art Fair is expanding
its presence in Australia, with an additional show in Melbourne in
Spring 2017. Melbourne’s cultural heritage and burgeoning art scene will
be on display at this new fair, showcasing the region’s impressive
community of artists.
Hiscox’s Online Art Trade Report 2016 indicated that 46% of millennial
art buyers prefer to purchase art offline, despite the 24% increase year
over year in online art sales. Considering this trend, The Other Art
Fair provides an invaluable opportunity for people to view and
experience works in person, and to make informed decisions about buying
art with the support of both artists and fair curators. As the number of
millennial art buyers continues to rise, The Other Art Fair’s New York
and Melbourne events will target this group of collectors in locations
that nurture creativity and new artistic talent.
