Saatchi Art’s The Other Art Fair Brooklyn Returns This Spring with a “Greener” Point of View

Leading Emerging Artist Fair to Feature Works from Over 130 Artists from New York and Around the World

SANTA MONICA, Calif., March 18, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Saatchi Art’s The Other Art Fair, a leading international fair championing independent artists, returns to Brooklyn on May 2-5. Building momentum from its previous Brooklyn fairs over the last two years, The Other Art Fair will showcase over 130 emerging artists at the Brooklyn Expo Center. Cristina Mittermeier, photographer and co-founder of SeaLegacy, will serve as this edition’s Guest Artist.  Additionally, The Other Art Fair will incorporate its Greener Future program for 2019 with special initiatives geared toward supporting sustainability and protecting the environment.

“I founded The Other Art Fair to support unrepresented artists. Since then we have sold over 20,000 artworks, welcomed over 200,000 visitors and worked with more than 3,000 artists from over 20 countries,” said founder of The Other Art Fair Ryan Stanier. “As we continue to expand our presence and add more cities to our roster, we are taking steps toward being wholly sustainable across all our fairs. In 2019, we will incorporate an upcycle art program and reusable options for the fair’s bar, because in order to create art we need a healthy world to be both inspired by and to live in.”

The artists showcased at the fair are selected by a panel of influential art world experts and tastemakers ensuring that fair visitors are presented with Saatchi Art’s most talented emerging artists. The selection committee for the Brooklyn 2019 Spring edition of the fair includes: Rebecca Wilson (Chief Curator, Saatchi Art), Lucien Zayan (Founder, The Invisible Dog Art Center), Billy Gerard Frank (Founder, Nova Frontier Film Festival), Deva Pardue (Creative Director, The Wing), Rolf Arne Leer (Founder, Quoted Magazine), and  Zoe Christensen (Fine Art Agent and Curator,

“As the fair’s reputation and visibility increases, we are thrilled to be welcoming so many artists to the fair for the first time. In Brooklyn our audiences will be able to discover the works of outstanding emerging artists from 16 countries from Chile to the Netherlands, in addition to some of the most popular artists regularly exhibiting at the fair,” said Saatchi Art Chief Curator Rebecca Wilson. “We are also very excited that 60% of the artists showing their work are women.”

Guest Artist, Cristina Mittermeier, is a photographer and marine biologist, born and raised in Mexico.  Her work as a photographer, speaker and explorer has been featured in hundreds of publications, most recently in National Geographic. Mittermeier is also a founder of SeaLegacy, a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting the ocean.  SeaLegacy will be the official charity partner for The Other Art Fair Brooklyn, helping to promote the fair’s Greener Future initiative with special features and promotions onsite.
